BMW India has launched the much talked about and awaited M4 Competition in the country. The price of 2022 BMW M4 Competition starts from Rs 1.44 crores (ex-showroom) India. The new generation M4 is drastically different from the outgoing version in terms of exterior design, performance and dimensions.
Let us begin with the exterior, many of you might have reservations pertaining to the way it is currently designed. In your face, the new BMW M4 Competition looks quite radical. This is because the front end of the vehicle offers a large vertical kidney grille. On either side of the grille, there are a pair of adaptive LED headlamps with laser lights. The bumper here gets air intakes and sharp creases which make it look very aggressive. Move to the sides and its coupe-like profile will instantly grab your attention. Sculpted wheel arches, M inspired alloy wheels and M gills on the fender add character to this portion of the vehicle. While the rear provides a boot mounted spoiler, sculpted bumper, diffuser and two pairs of exhaust tailpipes finished in black chrome. When compared to the previous edition, the new car is 108mm longer, 18mm wider and 1 mm taller.
The cabin of the 2022 BMW M4 Competition comes in an-all black theme with Merino leather. Besides this, one can also choose from multiple upholstery and trim choices. It gets multiple M specific touches. These include carbon fibre trims, M Sport Steering wheel, new M Sport seats, an infotainment system with M specific functions and graphics. Other features on board include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 3-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging and phone integration among many others. Its safety equipment list comprises ABS, 6 airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and more. As for extra loadings, one can get BMW display key, gesture control, BMW drive recorder, exterior carbon fibre package, M compound brakes to name a few.
Performance being the key objective, the new BMW M4 Competition is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre, straight-six petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 510 bhp with 650 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a ZF-sourced 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. It is for the first time that BMW is offering an all-wheel drive system as standard on the M4 Competition. Putting the rubber to the road, BMW claims that this coupe can accelerate from 0 – 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and has a limited top speed of 250 kmph.
