Fifth M Sport ‘50 Jahre M Edition’ model launched in India; Priced at Rs. 1.2 crore, the X7 will be available only with a petrol engine; Bookings are now open and the vehicle will be locally produced
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic M brand, BMW India has introduced an exclusive ‘50 Jahre M Edition’ of the X7 40i M Sport in the country. Priced at Rs. 1.2 crore (ex-showroom), this is the fifth special edition model among the 10 cars in works. Set to be locally produced at the brand’s Chennai-based facility, the car will be limited to just 10 units in India.
In terms of the overall design, the special edition gets sportier appeal when compared to the regular X7. Additions to the exterior include, new iconic M Emblem sits on the hood, tailgate and wheel hub caps, strong horizontal lines and sharper LED lights all around.
Available in Mineral White and Carbon Black paint schemes, the SUV is kitted with 21-inch Jet Black alloy wheels with similar finish for the M Sport brake callipers. In addition, the company also offers optional M Accessories Package which includes M Performance steering wheel, mirror caps, key fob and more in Carbon fibre finish.
On the inside, the new model resembles the standard car but get certain M-Specific 50 year celebration accessories which make the cabin unique. Excluding this, the four-wheeler continues to feature M Seat belts, M Leather steering wheel, electrical seat adjustment with memory function, automatic anti-dazzle function in all mirrors, five-zone control climate control, and a large Sky Lounge Panoramic glass sunroof among others. Two adjacent single pane screens measuring 12.3 inches each function as the infotainment display and instrument cluster running the latest BMW Operating System 7.0 with 3D Navigation.
Powering the special model is the 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine, churning out 340 horses and 450 Nm of peak torque. The system comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, helping the car hit the tonne under 6.1 seconds. It comes with 3 distinctive drive modes, Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus which alter the engine, chassis, steering, braking system and traction control.
