The recently unveiled BYD Seal EV, priced at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom), has achieved over 200 bookings in India within just one week of its introduction on March 5. Reservations for the electric sedan began on February 28, with the Chinese automaker requiring a deposit of Rs 1.25 lakh.
The standout exterior features of the BYD Seal encompass a sleek sloping roofline, electronic hidden flush door handles, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a LED bar running the length of the vehicle’s rear profile.
It is available in four paint options namely Arctic Blue, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black.
Moving inside, the electric four wheeler offers features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, leather upholstery, Heads Up Display, and two wireless charging pads.
Using BYD's e-Platform 3.0, the car is equipped with two battery options: 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. The base Dynamic model of the Seal runs on the smaller 61.4 kWh battery, powering the rear wheels. It delivers a maximum power output of 201 bhp with 310 Nm of peak torque, offering a range of 510 kms.
On the other hand, the Premium variant boasts a larger 82.56 kWh battery pack. It produces a power figure of 308 bhp and 360 Nm torque. With a range of 650 kms, it holds the record for the longest range in the series.
In contrast, the Performance model, the top-tier offering, is equipped with two electric motors (front and rear) for All-Wheel Drive. However, it shares the same larger battery pack (82.5 kWh) as the mid-spec version. Therefore it is capable of delivering 523 bhp with 670 Nm of peak torque. It’s claimed range stands at 580 kms.
