Volkswagen hints toward the comeback of the Polo in a different body style in India. The German automaker stopped the production of the Polo Hatchback in India in 2022, yet the VW Polo nameplate holds great significance in the Indian car market. The automaker has about 700,000 cars sold to date and the Polo had a total sales of 400,000 units. The hatchback is now in talks to have a comeback in a Crossover SUV form.
For the brand, the Polo nameplate played an important role. The automaker's pre-owned car business has grown its volumes 10 times in just 5 years.
The Polo has been one of the most iconic hatchbacks launched in India. As the relaunch of this is not officially confirmed, Ashish Gupta seems to hint toward a potential revival of the Polo brand in India. If the comeback does happen it would probably have a different body style. It seems to be a feasible way to revive this iconic nameplate.
The possibility of the Polo is a sub 4m SUV that will bring a rival to the current segment.
