India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Citroen India launched its first SUV coupe (Basalt) in August 2024 with a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, it is available only in the ICE version. Recent sightings have suggested that the automaker is now working on its electric avatar. The Basalt EV will strongly rival the Tata Curvv EV which is offered in petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains.
Based on the spy shots, the electrified Basalt has a few minor design differences compared to its ICE model, especially the front fascia. It will have an EV-specific front grille. The electric coupe SUV could also get a revamped front bumper, revised air dams, fresh alloy wheels, and more. The charging port will be positioned on the LHS rear fender.
Apart from this, the Basalt EV is likely to carry the same exterior features as the ICE version including a sloping roofline, flap-type door handles, shark-fin antenna, wraparound taillights, and split headlamps.
Inside, it could get a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile connectivity, automatic climate control, wireless mobile charger, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
The battery details of the Citroen Basalt EV are yet to be revealed. However, it is expected to get a battery pack of 35kWh mated to a single electric motor. The 2025 Basalt EV could offer a range of 450 km on a single charge.
