Honda Cars India is struggling to increase its sales in the highly competitive market. The company has recently launched the new-gen Amaze sub-4 meter sedan, which is now India's most affordable car with ADAS. At the launch event of new Amaze, Honda Cars reveal to launch 5 new SUVs in the country by 2025. However, details about the upcoming Honda SUVs are yet to be revealed.
In an interesting development, Honda Cars India has showcased the Honda ZRV e:HEV or Hybrid to dealerships. The SUV was revealed to dealers at an annual dealer convention 2025, which is conducted internally by Honda Cars India. The report further claims that the new Honda ZRV e:HEV will be launched in the country; however, Honda is yet to make an official announcement on the same.
For people not in the know, the Honda ZR-V is essentially the tweaked version of the new-gen HR-V. It is currently on sale in select international markets including Europe and America. The hybrid SUV is packed with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine with Honda's strong hybrid tech, called the e:HEV.
The engine produces 141bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 186Nm at 4500rpm. The engine is coupled to a small battery pack and an electric motor, which is rated at 180bhp and 315Nm. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 172kmph. The Honda ZR-V Hybrid is claimed to offer a mileage of up to 26kmpl.
The new Honda ZR-V e:HEV is a mid-sized SUV, measuring 4568mm in length, 1840mm in width and 1613mm in height. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2657mm. In terms of size, the new ZR-V will be a direct rival to the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and Tata Harrier.
The ZR-V hybrid is equipped with a wide range of comfort and convenience features such as dual-zone climate control, auto dimming IRVM, auto wipers, ADAS, 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, front and rear parking sensors, power tailgate with kick sensor and walk away close, etc. It is packed with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with 12-speakers Bose sound system.
It is early to comment whether Honda will launch the new ZR-V hybrid in India or not. Honda could utilize the Government's scheme of importing 2500 cars per annum without homologation process. The new model will come at a high price tag and will target SUVs like Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.
