With the launch of its next new product right around the corner, BMW India has revealed the specification of its flagship EV model, the i7 M70. The new EV will be the most powerful sedan model and feature a host of interior and exterior M-specific changes.
Compared to the regular BMW i7, the new BMW i7 M70 gets a raft of M-specific styling changes. Notable highlights include M bumpers at the front and rear, M badged black front grille, M side skirts and ORVMs, gloss-black window trim line, 21-inch M alloy wheels, blue brake callipers and an M rear spoiler. Except for the spoiler, which is a no-cost option, the rest of the changes come as standard on the i7 M70.
The 2023 i7 M70 also gets multiple new dual-tone paint shades to choose from. Options include Aventurine Red, Dravid Grey, Tanzanite Blue and Oxide Grey, all of which can be specced with a Black Sapphire or Oxide Grey top finish.
Furthermore, BMW is also offering a Liquid Copper and Black Sapphire shade for the new i7 M70 as a Rs 13 lakh optional extra.
BMW Cars is also going to offer a range of colour schemes for the interior and upholstery. There are five standard options and seven paid options. Standard interior schemes include Leather Merino Black, Leather Merino Tartufo (Tan), Leather Merino Mocha (Dark Brown), Leather Merino Amarone (Dark Red), and Leather Merino Smoke White. The paid optional interiors include Merino leather with Cashmere wool in a wide range of colours.
In addition to these, customers can also get Carbon fibre M interior trim with a piano black finish and silver contrast stitching as Rs 1.5 lakh option.
In terms of features, the i7 M70 will come filled to the brim with them. Key highlights include an M interior package which adds an M steering wheel, M Powerboost animation for the instrument cluster, and M footrests. Other features are similar to the regular i7 like the dual screen setup for the instrument console and infotainment system, ventilated powered seats with massage functions all round, roof mounted rear theatre screen, four-zone auto climate control, executive lounge seating, premium audio setup from Bowers and Wilkins, and more.
The i7 M70 uses a 101.7 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-electric motor setup. Combined, it makes 660 bhp with 1100 Nm of peak torque. BMW claims a WLTP-cycle rated range of 560 kms. In terms of charging, the i7 M70 accepts up to 22 kW AC charging, allowing it to fully charge in around 5 and a half hours. The EV also supports upto 195 kW DC charging that can juice the battery from 10-80% in just 34 minutes.
BMW is yet to reveal the launch date of the new BMW i7 M70 but expect it to arrive in India around the 2023 festive season. In terms of pricing, the M70 will likely be priced around Rs 2.5 - Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom), given the extra performance and features it gets over the regular BMW i7. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, Audi RS E-Tron GT, and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
