Scheduled to make global debut on December 19, 2024, the new Kia Syros is one of the most-awaited SUVs in the Indian market. We reported earlier that prices of the new Syros are likely to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. Kia will position this car as a lifestyle SUV and will place it right between the Sonet and Seltos.
The new Kia Syros will be come as a premium alternative to the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Tata Nexon. It will be one of the most feature-loaded SUVs in category. The teasers confirm that the new Syros will have a tall-boy rugged-SUV stance, which isn't seen on any of the Kia SUVs on sale in our market.
Cars with sunroof are in huge demand, which is evident from the sales of Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO in the sub-4 meter category. After these two SUVs, the Kia Syros will be the next to offer two sunroof options. The teasers already confirms that the new SUV will be offered with a panoramic sunroof; however, this feature will be reserved for higher variants. Kia will offer single-pane sunroof in lower variants to appeal to a wider audience.
The new Kia Syros will come with LEVEL 2 ADAS system, which is offered on the premium Seltos SUV. It will offer features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, auto high beam, collision avoidance assistance and others.
The new Syros will come with Carnival-like dual-screen setup for infotainment and driver's display. In terms of features, the SUV is likely to offer electrically adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloys, and slidable and reclinable rear seats. In fact, lower variants are likely to come with a touchscreen infotainment unit.
The new Kia Syros will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 118bhp and 175Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission). The diesel version will get the tried & tested 114bhp, 1.5L turbo unit paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. An electric derivative of the Syros is also under development, which is likely to arrive towards the end of 2025 or early 2026.
