Mahindra Scorpio N to Receive Big Changes in 2025

The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is focusing on bringing electric SUVs in the country in 2025. The company will announce the prices of rest of variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9e in January-February, while the XUV700 EV, likely to be called XEV 7e, is expected to arrive in the next few months. The XUV 3XO based EV, set to rival Tata Nexon EV, is also reportedly to be launched in early next year.

2025 Mahindra Scorpio N - What to expect?

Mahindra currently has no new product in ICE category to be launched in the next 6 months. However, the company will introduce the updated versions and new variants of the existing UVs in 2025. The Mahindra Scorpio N will be the next model to receive major upgrades in 2025. First launched in 2022, the SUV is expected to receive mid-life update next year.

Mahindra Scorpio N ANCAP

The biggest change would be the addition of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) tech, which is available in most of the Mahindra SUVs including XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx and the XUV700. The Scorpio N, sold as Scorpio in Australia, received 0-star crash test rating from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) in 2023. Interestingly, the same SUV received 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash test in 2022.

The Scorpio N lacks Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Support System, which is mandatory in Australia's new safety regulations. Mahindra will add all the ADAS features in the Scorpio N with a mid-life upgrade. It will offer Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Support System, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and others.

Another big update for the new Mahindra Scorpio N is likely to be the inclusion of the Panoramic Sunroof, which is even offered with the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The Thar Roxx is the first ladder-frame based SUV to offer this feature. The Mahindra Scorpio N is also based on the same architecture. Adding to it, the Scorpio N is likely to get a 360-degree surround view camera, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.

Engine Options

The Scorpio N is available with two engine options - a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel. The petrol engine produces 203PS and 370Nm of torque (380Nm with AT). The diesel engine offers two states of tunes - 132PS/300Nm and 175PS/370Nm. The torque increases to 400Nm with automatic gearbox. The diesel version offers 3 drive modes - Zip, Zap and Zoom. The SUV comes with rear-wheel-drive setup as standard, while 4WD system is offered with higher-spec diesel variants. It offers 4 terrain modes - Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Rut, and Sand. The SUV gets new 4 XPLOR 4WD system with a low-range mode.
