Maruti Suzuki’s compact sedan, Dzire Tour S recalled over a defective airbag unit; 166 affected by this issue; Maruti promises free replacement of the faulty product
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the largest manufacturer of passenger vehicle in the country has issued a memo recalling models over faulty airbag unit. According to the company’s analysis, 166 models of the Dzire Tour S have been affected by this issue and the have been called in for replacement.
Recalls are general practice in the automotive industry that manufacturers use to iron out any niggles in the production line that could have affected a set of cars. The issues can be related to electrical, powertrain and ECU which affect the efficiency and safety of the vehicle.
The Dzire Tour S is the commercial version of the regular Dzire which is based on the last gen model. These cars are primarily used for cab services, and come fitted with dual front airbags. In a routine check, the company suspected that select models of this four-wheeler manufactured between 6th August 2022 and 16th August 2022 were fitted with faulty airbag control unit (ACU). According to Maruti Suzuki, in rare cases, this defective ACU might result in the non-deployment/malfunctioning of the airbag. The recall is limited to 166 units manufactured between 6th August 2022 and 16th August 2022. Affected vehicle owners will be receiving planned communication from Maruti Suzuki authorized workshops for the replacement of the defective systems. Additionally customers can also visit the ‘Important Customer Info’ section on the brand’s official website and check the status of the recall by entering Chassis No.

Previously the company had issued recall of 1.8 lakh Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, S-Cross and XL6 for faulty motor generator unit. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire Tour S is sold in India for a sticker price of Rs. 6.05 lakhs to Rs. 7 lakhs (ex-showroom).
