India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has launched the New Fronx at Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The crossover was unveiled earlier this year during the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo, with bookings having been initiated at the same time with a deposit of Rs 11,000. While it is based on the Baleno, the Fronx gets unique styling, different features, and a turbo-petrol powertrain. We take a closer look.
The Fronx shares a few styling bits like the split LED headlights and upright nose with the bigger Grand Vitara SUV. The bumpers are chunkier and look more rugged with faux aluminium skid plates and chrome detailing. Moving to the side, the crossover provides a sloping roofline, flared wheel arches, roof rails, and 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. Towards the rear, it features a high-set bootlid, LED tail lights connected by a full-width lightbar, and an integrated spoiler.
There are seven exterior colours available on the new vehicle that include Opulent Red, Bluish Black, Grandeur Gray, Arctic White, Celestial Blue, Earthern Brown, and Splendid Silver. Plus a prospective customer can choose between three dual-tone options consisting of Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, and Earthern Brown colours.
Moving inside, the interior layout of the Maruti Fronx is fairly similar to the Baleno hatchback. However, it does use different colours and textures alongside black and brown upholstery.
In terms of features, the four-wheeler provides a 9-inch SmartPlay+ infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, Heads-Up Display, auto climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging, audio system from Arkamys, a 360-degree camera, and more.

There are two powertrain choices on offer in the New Fronx. The first one is a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 90 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. It is paired to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The other option is the returning 1-litre, Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. The power plant is capable of producing a maximum power output of 100 bhp and 147 Nm torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Currently, the Fronx is the only Maruti model to be offered with a turbo-petrol motor option.
Maruti is offering the All-New Fronx in 5 variants namely Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. Prices start from 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level Sigma trim, going up to Rs 13.14 lakh (ex-showroom) for the flagship Alpha Turbo AT variant. The new crossover rivals the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, and the Maruti Brezza.
