Set to launch during the 3rd week of July 2022; Expected to be called the Vitara; Will come with an AWD option
Coming on the back of a successful product launch, Maruti Suzuki is ready to introduce another all-new product in the Indian market. Expected to be called the ‘Vitara’, this mid-size SUV will be the homegrown automakers version of the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV. Ready to be revealed at the end of July 2022, this vehicle will take on the likes of the KIA Seltos, Hyundai Creta and others in its segment.
Like all products under the Maruti-Toyota JV, these vehicles will feature a similar overall design, but with a different front fascia. The SUVs will come equipped with distinctive front grilles, DRLs and bumpers. Other changes on the exterior will be limited to the Maruti badges and 17-inch alloy wheel design.
Like on the exterior, both SUVs will feature an identical dashboard design, but will come finished in different colour themes. We expect the Maruti’s cabin to come equipped with features like a wireless charging pad, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, ventilated seats and more. In addition to these, the Vitara will have high levels of quality control and safety for its occupants with 6-airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, HUD and a 360-degree camera.
Like the Hyryder, this SUV will come powered by two petrol engine options. The first will be the 1.5-litre K-Series unit with a mild hybrid system, while the other is expected to be an all-new 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle unit with a strong hybrid set-up. The former will be available with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission while the latter will only come equipped with an e-CVT gearbox.
Once launched, the Vitara will be the first modern Maruti Suzuki product and second in the segment to get AWD option.
MSI is set to unveil the car by the end of July 2022, but we don’t expect the SUV to make its official debut in the market before the festive season. Based on the segment and tech on offer, we expect Maruti to price the Vitara from Rs 10 lakh (for the K-Series engine variants) to Rs 20 lakh (for the hybrid models).
The 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift costs Rs. 1.03 crore in India. It comes with design refinements, new-age features, and a mild-hybrid powerplant, making it one of the best luxury SUVs.
