Mercedes-Benz has discontinued the GLB SUV in India after a run of over two years. Launched in December 2022, the GLB was the brand’s most affordable 7-seater luxury SUV, priced between Rs. 63.80 lakh and Rs. 69.80 lakh.
It was imported as a completely built unit (CBU) from Mexico, and all allocated units for India have now been sold. While the petrol and diesel variants are no longer available, the electric version, EQB, continues to be on sale in the country.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB premium SUV was available in three variants — GLB 200 Progressive, GLB 220d 4MATIC, and GLB 220d AMG Line 4MATIC.
Under the hood, the GLB 200 was powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel-powered GLB 220d variants came with a 2.0-litre engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that a new GLB is in the pipeline for India. However, it remains uncertain whether this refers to the mid-life facelift or the all-new second-generation GLB, which is currently under development.
Recent spy shots of the next-gen GLB have surfaced online, hinting at a global debut expected in 2026. The new model will be underpinned by Mercedes' advanced MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform — the same platform that will support the upcoming third-gen CLA, set to arrive in India by the end of 2025.
