Mercedes-Benz is set to launch two new SUVs in India on 2 December 2022. Completing its commitment to launch three electric vehicles in India, Mercedes Benz will launch the EQB SUV along with its ICE counterpart the GLB in the country. Referred to as Mini GLS, the GLB will be the second seven-seater SUV offering from the brand while the EQB will be the first seven-seater EV from Mercedes India. Bookings for both models are now open for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Both EQB and GLB SUVs are based on the same MFA2 car platform. In India, the GLB will be featured in three variants; the entry-level GLB 200, the mid-spec GLB 220d, and the high-class GLB 220d 4Matic.
The GLB 200 petrol will arrive with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, with a seven-speed automatic whereas the GLB 220d will get the 2.0-litre 190 bhp diesel power plant paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The GLB 200 is expected to be seen in a single Progressive Line exterior package. It will also get a faux skid plate, a dual slat grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, and chrome trim on the exterior. Whereas, the GLB 220d will arrive with an AMG Line package that will get 19-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, a sharper-looking bumper, and a single-slat AMG-themed grille.

The Mercedes EQB, the first seven-seater EV, will be considered the third EV offered by Mercedes after the EQC SUV and the EQS sedan. Most of the body panels and the entire look will be similar to its ICE counterpart, the GLB. However, it will also get a few EQ-specific styling differences such as a unique headlight design, blanked-off front grille, and other tweaks.
Although there are specific differences on the outside, the interior of the EQB is the same as the GLB except for the gold paint on its turbine-like vents. The EQB EV SUV will be sold in the entry-level EQB 300 guise in India. It is likely to make 228 hp and will feature a 66.5 kWh battery that will provide a claimed range of over 419 km (WLTP).
