It is no secret that MG Motor India will introduce the long-awaited electric CUV in the country during the festive season, before Diwali. Called the MG Windsor EV, the new electric compact utility vehicle will be positioned between Comet EV and the ZS EV.
Our sources reveal that the MG Windsor EV will be launched in September or October 2024. Ahead of the official reveal, MG Motor India has released multiple teasers of the Windsor EV. The latest teaser confirms that the new Windsor will come with lounge seats.
The MG Windsor EV will come with India's first Aero-lounge seats with 35 degree recline. This ensures a comfortable travel experience to all the occupants in the second-row. The teaser reveals that the electric CUV gets all-black leatherette seats with headrests with all 3 occupants in the second-row. There is a centre armrest, which should offer cup holders and space for a mobile phone.
There is an dedicated AC unit along with charging slots visible on the Internet. The teaser confirms that the electric crossover will have mood lighting and bronze treatment all around the cabin. It is basically the re-badged version of the Wuling Cloud EV, which is on sale in select South Asian markets.
The MG Windsor EV comes with a layered dashboard, which is dominated by a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment unit. There are minimal switchgears or buttons on the dashboard, and most of the things will be controlled using the infotainment unit.
The electric CUV is designed and developed on a born-electric platform, which is designed to offer maximum space inside the cabin. This architecture is compatible with advanced driver assistance systems and more modern features.
Previous teaser confirms that the new MG Windsor EV gets a panoramic sunroof. It is most likely to receive an ADAS suite and a 360-degree surround view camera. ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, bend cruise assistance, automatic emergency brake, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, safe distance warning and high-beam assist. Other safety features are likely to include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESC, HHC, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, TPMs and others.
The Windsor EV is likely to receive a front-axle mounted electric motor, which draws power from a 50.6kWh battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 134bhp and 200Nm, respectively. It is likely to offer an impressive range of up to 500km on a single charge.
