It is no secret that Kia is developing the next-gen Seltos SUV that has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. This time around, the all-new Kia Seltos has been caught doing cold weather testing in the Arctic Circle. While the official launch timeline is yet to be revealed, Korean media report that the new-gen Kia Seltos will reveal in January 2026.
It is reported that the next Seltos will be offered for the first time with a hybrid powertrain and e-AWD options. The Seltos Hybrid will be a part of Kia's strategy to electrify its lineup across all five type of SUVs and RVs on sale in Korea and other parts of the world. The report further claims that the hybrid model mass production will begin from August next year at Kia Autoland Gwangju factory.
Since 2019, the Kia Seltos has been on sale in select international markets and is available with gasoline and diesel fuel options. However, the demand for diesel Seltos declined drastically in recent times and is available with petrol engine only in Korea. The hybrid powertrain will give a more efficient option to buyers.
The report claims that the new-gen Kia Seltos will be available with petrol and hybrid powertrains. The hybrid unit is likely to get a 141hp, 1.6L hybrid system that is also available in Hyundai Kona Hybrid and the Kia Niro.
Interestingly, Kia is developing a dedicated electronic all-time four-wheel-drive (E-AWD) system for the Seltos hybrid. This system will be aimed at the European market.
The new-gen Seltos will come with a completely revised front fascia, featuring new grille design and front bumper that houses new air dams. It will have a new headlamp setup that houses three vertically-placed rectangular lamps and long vertical LED DRL strips on either side. At the back, the SUV will have more boxier profile with new tail-lights inspired by the EV5.
Similarly, the SUV will have massive changes inside the cabin. It will share the cabin layout with the new Carnival and the EV5. The SUV will come with a layered dashboard with soft-touch materials and leatherette finish. It will be fitted with a Carnival-like dual-screen setup for infotainment and driver's display. The SUV will continue to offer HUD, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation function, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof and others.
The new Kia Seltos is reportedly to make global debut in January 2026. Its India launch is expected in the first quarter of 2026. Previous media reports reveal that the next Seltos could make India debut during festive season, around Diwali.
