Honda has started testing the next generation Amaze sub-4 metre sedan on the Indian roads. The next-gen Honda Amaze was earlier scheduled to make its global debut by October 2024; however, the launch has been pushed to early next year - most probably in January 2025. Honda Cars India could unveil the sub-4 metre sedan by December this year.
The current generation Amaze has been on sale since 2018. The third generation Honda Amaze will receive major changes in terms of interior and underpinnings. It will be based on the City sedan's platform, which will be modified to accommodate a sub-4 metre car. The City rides on 2600mm wheelbase, while the Elevate has 2650mm wheelbase; however, the current Amaze's wheelbase is 2470mm. Using a common architecture helps Honda to improve economies of scale.
Not much is revealed about the new Amaze's design, but the spy images reveal that the sedan will retain the overall shape. The styling will be inspired by the larger Honda sedans on sale in select international markets. The current generation Amaze was inspired by the Accord sedan, and the same is expected with the third generation model as well. Also See - Honda to launch 6 new cars and SUVs
The spy images reveal that the next-gen Amaze gets the smokey-finished tail-lamps and a reverse camera. It also gets a shark fin antenna and three fixed headrests for the rear passengers. The sedan is most likely to share the cabin layout and features with the new Elevate SUV.
It is expected to feature a 10-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit, a semi-digital instrument console, automatic climate control, Lane watch assist and others. The new Amaze could also receive Camera-based ADAS and a factory-fitted electric sunroof.
The next-gen Honda Amaze sedan is expected to receive the existing 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
