Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to launch its much awaited sedan, the New-Generation Verna next month. Ahead of its introduction, a new set of spy shots have emerged online that give us an idea of what the upcoming sedan will look like. The company had shared design sketches of the same a couple of days ago.
The spy shots reveal the Next-Gen Verna’s Sensuous Sportiness design language. The front end features Hyundai's signature parametric grille flanked by a split-headlight setup. A LED light bar sits just above the grille while the fog lamps are placed on the edges of the front bumper. Moving to the sides, its angled wheel arches and the coupe-like roofline makes the sedan look dynamic and aggressive.
The leaked images also give us a look into the Verna’s rear for the first time. The sedan gets a new tail light design with vertical extensions on each end. It also offers a connected LED light bar featuring crystal-like inserts. The top of the boot lid and rear three quarters protrudes over the taillights, giving a faux spoiler like effect.
Another thing you will notice is the badge on the rear which says Accent. This is because the model is sold as the Accent in left-hand-drive markets like South Korea and the Middle East. In India and other right-hand-drive markets, the same model uses the Verna nameplate instead.

Hyundai will be introducing a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor in the Next-Gen Verna, which makes a power output of 160 bhp with around 240 Nm of peak torque. It will be paired either to a 7-speed DCT automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
For the entry-level variants, the company is expected to offer the existing 1.5-litre N/A petrol engine from the outgoing model. The motor delivers a power of 115 bhp with 145 of peak torque as it comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Both powertrains will meet the upcoming RDE (Real Driving Emission) Norms and be E20 (20 percent ethanol blend) fuel compliant.
The automaker will also no longer offer a diesel powertrain option in the New Verna as the motor does not comply with the aforementioned emission norms.

The brand has already started taking bookings for the New Verna, although prices are yet to be announced. We expect the new model to be priced around Rs 60,000 to Rs 1 lakh more than the current prices of Rs 9.64 lakh to Rs 15.72 lakh ( ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the All-New Hyundai Verna will rival the likes of the Škoda Slavia, VW Virtus, the recently updated Maruti Ciaz and the upcoming Honda City Facelift.
