The race for the second position in the list of top car makers in March 2025 is getting intense, as Hyundai manages to regain its lost position in March 2025 sales. In fact, Tata Motors has also reported positive sales growth and manages to beat Mahindra to regain the lost 3rd position. Mahindra still at fourth position, followed by Toyota and Kia at fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
- Hyundai registered a total sales (Domestic + Exports) of 67,320 units in March 2025 as against 65,601 units sold in the same month last year, reporting a YoY growth of 2.6 percent. In the domestic market, Hyundai dispatched a total of 51,820 vehicles last month that's a YoY decline of 2.23 per cent. In the same period last year, the Korean brand sold a total of 53,001 vehicles. Hyundai's exports grew by 23.02 percent with 15,500 vehicles dispatched overseas as against 12,600 units in the same month last year.
- Tata Motors is at 3rd position with 51,616 vehicles dispatched in March 2025 as against 50,110 vehicles in the same month last year. The company reported a YoY sales growth of 3.01 per cent. The company exported a total of 256 vehicles in March 2025 as against 187 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY growth of 36.90 percent. Tata Motors EV sales dropped by good 20.56 percent to 5,353 units in March 2025 from 6,738 units in the same month last year.
- Despite registering a double-digit YoY sales growth of 18 percent in March 2025, Mahindra failed to beat Hyundai and Tata Motors. In February 2025, Mahindra was the second largest car maker with over 50,000 vehicles dispatched to dealerships. In March 2025, the homegrown UV maker dispatched a total of 48,048 vehicles as against 40,631 units in the same month last year.
