Tata Motors has once again revealed the production-ready Tata Harrier EV. Likely to be launched in March or April 2025, the new electric SUV appears largely identical to the ICE model. However, there are some changes to make it look like an EV. Let's talk in detail about the soon-to-be-launched Tata Harrier Electric mid-sized SUV -
The Harrier electric will be positioned above the Curvv EV in Tata line-up. It will rival the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and Mahindra XEV 9e. We expect Tata to price the new Harrier EV very aggressively to compete well in the market. The Tata Harrier Electric is expected to be priced around Rs 22 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
The new Tata Harrier EV comes with a new blanked-off front grille, connected LED daytime running lights with welcome and goodbye animations, and LED headlights. There is a newly styled bumper that houses vertical slats and faux-silver skid plate.
The overall silhouette is similar to the ICE model; however, it gets newly designed alloy wheels with aero-optimized covers. The ".ev" badge has replaced the "Harrier" badge on the front doors. It retains the body-coloured ORVMs with integrated LED blinkers.
The rear too retains the shape of ICE model, featuring the similar connected LED tail-lights with welcome and goodbye animations. It also gets the redesigned bumper with front-like vertical slat and silver finished skid plate.
The cabin of the Tata Harrier electric will be similar to the standard car. The SUV gets a layered dashboard that houses dual displays and a four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo. The big change is the new colour scheme, as it is finished in a grey and white paint scheme.
In terms of features, the electric SUV will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and dual-zone climate control. The electric SUV also has connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, ventilated front seats, a 10-speaker JBL-sourced sound system and ambient lighting with multiple colour options.
The Harrier electric comes equipped with summon mode, where customers will be able to move the vehicle forward and backward using the keyfob. This feature will help the customer to park the electric car easily in tight spots. The electric SUV also gets vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-charge (V2C) features.
For passenger's safety and security, the electric SUV gets 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, all-4 disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree surround view camera, electronic stability control and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
The Harrier EV will also come with LEVEL 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and others.
The new Harrier is developed on Tata's "Acti.ev" platform, which is versatile enough to accommodate different body styles and battery pack options. It is also compatible with AWD setup and the Harrier EV will be the first model to get electric-AWD capabilities.
The exact battery specifications are yet to be revealed; however, reports suggest that the Harrier EV could get a 75kWh battery pack with a dual-motor setup. It will have a claimed range of over 500km in a single charge. The EV will also have a multi-link rear suspension setup to offer a better driving experience.
