Tata Motors has a busy second-half of 2023 with a slew of launches lined up. The first to arrive will be the Nexon Facelift, slated to be unveiled just before the festive season. While test mules have been spotted already, we were yet to see how it will look like, until now. A latest leaked image has finally revealed the upcoming subcompact SUV’s design. We take a closer look.
Looking at the new leaked render, the facelifted Nexon seems to have a more upright stance with squared-off edges. Up front, the bonnet and fender have been reprofiled to fit the new split headlight units. The bonnet itself features more prominent edges to make it look high.
Since it is a facelift and not a full model change, the updated Nexon retains the profile of the current model. Only changes include removal of the Y-shaped elements and the contrasting window line band as well as all-new dual-tone alloy wheels.
Moving to the rear, it has been overhauled as well. It now gets a full-width LED light bar that merges with the sharper LED tail lights. The roof spoiler has been updated as well, getting a wraparound design and now also covers the rear wiper.
Changes to the interior of the Nexon Facelift will be comprehensive too. While we are yet to see it fully, spy shots of test mules have hinted towards an overhauled dashboard. Key changes here would include a larger infotainment system, new touch-based control panel, digital instrument cluster, and a new twin-spoke steering wheel.
The homegrown manufacturer is expected to offer the same, recently upgraded powertrain options on the facelifted Nexon. Choices will include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol making 120 bhp with 170 Nm of peak torque and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel delivering 115 bhp alongside 260 Nm torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or an AMT while a new dual-clutch automatic is expected to be introduced with the upcoming vehicle.
New Tata Nexon Facelift is slated to be launched around the mid of September 2023. Expect it to be priced slightly higher over the current model’s Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
Upon launch, the subcompact SUV will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and the Mahindra XUV300 in its segment.
