India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
• Could move away from current blue accents • Will let Tata use wider range of colours for its electric lineup • .EV branding will be only element to distinguish between electric and ICE models
Tata Motors has quickly become the dominant automaker in the rapidly growing Indian EV segment with its ICE-to-EV models. Now, the brand has announced that it will be setting up an independent new electric brand called .EV. This new electric division would focus on the future electric product portfolio.
Currently, Tata Motors uses light blue accents and an ‘EV’ suffix to differentiate its electric models from their ICE counterparts. But with the New Tata Tiago electric’s launch, the automaker has taken a slightly different path by adding new .EV badges to the front grille, fenders, and the bootlid.
The .EV branding will allow Tata to steer away from the current blue exterior accents it uses as an identifying factor for its electric vehicle lineup. This will let Tata designers choose other colour options for its electric cars.

The brand is focusing not only on expanding its current lineup but also on improving the EV charging infrastructure in India. As of April 2022, there are 1742 charging stations across the country. Tata has stated that there is a need to accelerate the EV ecosystem, and that the brand will be doing its part to develop it.
The Indian manufacturer is also moving into alternative green mobility platforms. This will be the first time Tata is exploring hydrogen-powered vehicles. Expect to see a concept/prototype using hydrogen-power technology at the 2023 Delhi AutoExpo.
