Land Rover has unveiled the 2023 Range Rover Sport; gets an updated exterior design and a wide variety of powertrain options.
British luxury SUV manufacturer, Range Rover has launched the latest generation of its Range Rover Sport globally. Underpinned by the MLA-Flex (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) platform, the architecture is electric ready for the arrival of the EV variant in 2024.
Land Rover is well known for launching its SUVs in unique ways that highlight the capabilities of its vehicle. And the story continues with the third generation Range Rover Sport. This time around, the British marque took the challenge of climbing the 193 meters tall Karahnjukar Dam spillway against the flow of water, to launch its SUV, the New Range Rover Sport.
The new Sport is a blend of off-roading capabilities and luxury, something which is very typical of a Land Rover. Here is a quick look at the new vehicle:
2023 Range Rover Sport Exterior Design:
Land Rover has certainly hit the ball out of the park in terms of the design with a sleek front fascia. The overall outlook is an evolution over the outgoing model rather than a revolution. The SUV with its symmetrical proportions and short overhangs flaunts a muscular stance. The new slim LED headlamps and air intakes help differentiate this four-wheeler from the standard Range Rover.
Following in the footsteps of other company models, the Sport on its sides gets flush door handles and 23-inch wheels with a range of finishes. Moving away from the standard boxy design, it features a coupe-ish stance with sloping roofline. At the rear, the SUV is provided with a drastically different looking tailgate that is both a hit and miss.
2023 Range Rover Sport Interior and Features:
The interior of the New Range Rover Sport is a huge step forward over the outgoing model. The highlight of the cabin is the new centre console and the digital drivers cockpit that features two 13.1-inch screens with Alexa voice assistant and OTA updates. Unlike its rivals, the Sport continues to offer physical buttons for certain multimedia functions.
The upper and lower half of the dashboard are separated by a strip finished in shiny metal housing the air vents. The subtle light blue ambient lighting gives the cabin a luxurious feel, enhanced by the sculpted seats. 35 speakers Meridian 3D surround sound system, 3D surround camera, active noise cancellation technology in the headrests, wireless charging, rear-seat entertainment and SiriusXM satellite radio are notable features in this vehicle. Apart from these, the SUV is loaded with a host of driver assistance systems offered as standard equipment like the automated braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and more.
2023 Range Rover Sport Powertrains:
The 2023 Range Rover Sport is available with a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. There are two petrol engines on offer that include a 3.0-litre 6 cylinder motor with mild hybrid system and a most powerful, BMW derived 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 motor. Both units produce 400 bhp and 530 bhp respectively. While the diesel mill as part of the package is a 3.0-litre straight-six in two states of tune, namely D300 and D350. The models produce 300 bhp and 350 bhp respectively with mild hybrid assistance. As for the Plug-in Hybrid option, it is available with the 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine mated to a 32kWh battery pack delivering 440 bhp in P440e trim and 510 bhp in P510e trim.
All powertrains are available with the new 8-speed automatic transmission with AWD as standard. The SUV also comes with a dynamic air suspension system and twin valve dampers.
In addition, Land Rover is offering its dynamic master stormer handling pack as an option on the vehicle. This provides the four-wheeler with features like all-wheel steering, electronic active differential with torque vectoring by braking, Dynamic Response Pro and more.
The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport will go on sale internationally later this year and is expected to hit the Indian shore by 2023. When launched, the SUV will take on the likes of the BMW X5 and Mercedes Benz GLE in its segment.
