Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the new Nexon facelift in India soon. Ahead of its launch, reports have revealed details of the exterior design and interior features of the upcoming subcompact SUV. Now, the latest report has confirmed the powertrain choices the new Tata Nexon will be offered with.
As expected, the facelifted Tata Nexon will continue to come powered by the same powertrain options as the current model. The petrol is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol but in the upgraded guise shown at the 2023 Auto Expo. This unit makes around 120 bhp and 170 Nm of max torque while the 1.5-litre turbo diesel pumps out 115 bhp with 260 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options for 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT remain the same as well. However, the petrol variants will now also get the choice of a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Reports suggest that the 5-speed manual will be available on the entry-level petrol variants. On the flip side, the 7-speed DCT automatic will only be found in the top-spec trims.
We have previously reported that the new Nexon will get a raft of changes to the exterior and interior. Changes to the former will include new split LED headlights, a slimmer front grille, an upright front end, new dual-tone alloy wheels, full-width LED tail lights, and a new boot lid spoiler.
Moving inside, the Nexon facelift will get a fully redesigned dashboard and new upholstery, key highlights include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, fully-digital instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel, Haptic Touch controls for the new auto climate control, and more.
The Nexon facelift is expected to be launched just ahead of the upcoming festive season, around mid-September. Tata will likely hike the prices given the number of updates the SUV will be getting. The current Nexon is priced between Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the new Nexon will rival the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
