Tata Motors is preparing multiple new models including the Sierra and Avinya for the Indian market. While the Avinya based premium SUV will arrive only in 2026, Tata will introduce 3 new cars in the country this year. The company is currently testing the soon-to-be-launched Harrier EV, Altroz facelift and the much-awaited Sierra SUV, all will be launched before the end of current year.
Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Harrier EV in the country in the next couple of months. In fact, Tata has started teasing the electric SUV on its social media platforms. The production-ready model recently showcased to media and dealers at the brand's production facility.
The new Tata Harrier Electric will be based on the acti.ev architecture that also underpins the Punch EV and Curvv EV. It is likely to be packed with a 75kWh battery pack with a dual-motor AWD setup, offering a range of over 500km on a single charge. It could also get a 60kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor as standard.
The new Harrier EV is likely to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, a JBL-sourced 10-speaker audio system, V2L and V2C. For safety, the electric SUV will get 7 airbags, all-4 disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, ESC, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, and LEVEL 2 ADAS suite.
Tata Motors is preparing to give a mid-life facelift to the Altroz hatchback that has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. First launched in 2020, the Tata Altroz has been one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the country. It is the only hatchback in the category to offer petrol and diesel fuel options.
The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift is likely to receive subtle design changes to give it a fresh feel. The hatchback could receive revised grille, new front bumper that houses vertical crease below the fog lamps, and revised LED tail-lamps and indicators. Inside the cabin, the hatchback could get new seat upholstery, new door trim, ventilated front seats and others. Tata could add a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit on the lower trims of the Altroz hatchback.
The new Altroz facelift is likely to retain the existing engine options - a 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. The company will also add the CNG fuel option, featuring a 1.2L engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual, an AMT and a dual-clutch automatic.
Tata Motors is all set to launch the Sierra lifestyle SUV in the country towards the end of this year. It is expected that the new Sierra ICE and Sierra EV will be launched simultaneously during festive season, around Diwali.
The Sierra EV will be based on the modified Acti.ev architecture that underpins the Curvv EV and Punch EV. The ICE version is likely to be based on the ATLAS architecture that underpins the Curvv ICE. In terms of features, the SUV will have LED lighting system, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, ventilated front and rear seats, dual-zone climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting and others. For safety, the new Sierra will have 7 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, LEVEL 2 ADAS, front and rear parking sensors, and others.
The Sierra ICE will be offered with a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel. The company could also add the entry-level 1.5L turbo diesel engine in the SUV line-up. The turbo GDI petrol unit is capable of producing 167bhp and 280Nm, while the turbo diesel unit is good for 167bhp and 350Nm. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
Tata has not released the battery spec of the Sierra EV. We believe the SUV could share the specs with the Harrier EV, which is likely to be offered with two battery packs - a 75kWh with dual-motor AWD setup and a 60kWh unit with a FWD setup. The electric SUV should offer a range of over 500km on a full charge.
