Volkswagen has just given an update to the Tiguan. The brand’s flagship SUV in India now receives a dual-tone interior and gets additional features. VW has also updated the powertrain to comply with the new RDE (Real Driving Emissions) norms. We take a closer look.
The updated Tiguan gets a new dual-tone grey and white interior, replacing the previous all-black theme. In terms of features updated, it gets a couple of new ones like a wireless charger and seatbelt reminder for all seats. The SUV now also comes with VW’s Park Assist system that allows the vehicle to parallel park on its own in an empty space. However, it is only a semi-automatic system as the system only controls the steering, the driver is still in control of the accelerator and brakes.

It is paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. VW is also claiming a better fuel economy figure of 13.54 kmpl, up from 12.65 kmpl, following the update
VW has also given the Tiguan a price hike with the update. The SUV now retails for Rs 34.69 lakh (ex-showroom), Rs 49,000 more than before. It competes against the Citroen C5 Aircross, Hyundai Tucson, and the Jeep Compass. The Compass has now become diesel only as Jeep has discontinued its petrol variants.
