The much-awaited new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is all set to be launched in the Indian market on May 9, 2024. Ahead of its official launch, unofficial bookings have opened by the select Maruti Suzuki dealerships. Those who are interested in buying a new Swift can book their hatchback by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.
In terms of dimensions, the upcoming Swift is going to be 3,860 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Compared to the existing car, the new Swift is around 15mm longer; however, the width and height have been reduced by 40mm and 30mm, respectively.
As for the design, the hatchback will come with a redesigned grille, sleeker front bumper, sleeker LED DRLs, new 16-inch alloy wheels, revamped tail-lights, and sportier rear bumper. It will also get the traditional door-mounted rear door handles instead of C-pillar mounted ones available in the current Swift.
The updated Swift will offer new features comprising a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other features will include a heads-up display, a wireless charger, automatic AC, rear heater duct, and keyless entry.
With the launch of the fourth-generation Swift, Maruti will mark the debut of the new 1.2-litre, Z-Series petrol engine. This 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol unit can deliver the maximum power of 82 bhp with 108 Nm of peak torque. The updated Swift will come with a mild hybrid setup too. The mild hybrid unit will have a DC synchronous motor, which will provide an additional 3hp and 60Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. A CVT transmission is also likely to be on offer, however, it is not confirmed.
Maruti will launch the next-gen Swift most probably on 9th May 2024. The price for the hatchback will start from Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and Tata Tiago.
