This helps them to target wider audience without making huge investments to bring different products. Car makers are using platforms designed for ICE vehicles for their early electric vehicles, which allows them to enter the EV market initially in a quicker and cost-effective manner.

Tata Motors is the among the first automakers in India to offer a particular product with both ICE and EV powertrains. The Nexon is based on the upgraded Tata X1 Platform, which also underpins the Tigor and Tiago. It was initially launched with petrol and diesel engine options; however, Tata Motors modified this architecture to adopt EV powertrain. Moreover, the homegrown automaker is also selling the CNG version of the Tata Nexon in our market.
