Maruti Suzuki will launch the new generation Swift hatchback in the Indian market in May 2024. The new Swift is already on sale in its home market, Japan, and the same model with some tweaks will arrive in our maret. Ahead of India launch, the new-gen Suzuki Swift has been crash tested and it is awarded with 4-star rating by Japan NCAP (New Car Assessment Program).
The crash test video available on the Internet reveals that the Swift's ADAS features were also tested by Japan-NCAP. The video shows the front collision of the Swift at 55kmph. It also previews the Swift's active safety features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear collision alert and lane keep assist. These features were tested and the hatchback passed all these tests.
The test was also conducted with a dummy cyclist, and the new Swift identifies both the cyclist and pedestrian. The Swift's ADAS managed to apply brakes even in the presence of a high beam from a vehicle in the opposite direction. The car is also tested for front and front side collisions at 55kmph and 64kmph, respectively. A side impact test was also conducted on the new Swift. The all new Maruti Swift scored 117.80 points out of a maximum of 197 points.
The hatchback scored 4 stars for driver and 5 stars for co-driver in the frontal collision test. In the offset frontal collision test, the driver's seat and the rear passenger's seat scored 4 stars and 3 stars, respectively. It scored 5 stars in the side collision test. Both driver's and passenger's seats offer good neck injury protection during rear-end collision performance test.
