Kia has scheduled the launch of the Carens Facelift in India next month. This launch would be of the ICE model as the all-electric version is said to follow two months later in June. Through the spy images of the testing mule of this MPV, we can expect some significant changes to the exterior and interior. Although the EV version is likely to be similar in design with some EV-specific changes.
Here is a closer look at what new significant updates this facelift version could offer.
The brand has yet to reveal the facelift version, however, through the spy shots, a higher bonnet line is expected, which gives a more SUV-like look. As for the other design elements, the headlight and the daytime running lamp, similar to Syros, are likely with vertically stacked tail-lights connected by an LED light bar.
The test mule seems to have new-design dual-tone alloy wheels, but they seem to have the same 16-inch size as the current market model.
It is expected that the Carens facelift will offer advanced features like the ADAS suite and 360-degree camera. As for the interior, the spy shots do not reveal much so it's only expected that there will be minor changes to the dashboard, switches, toggles, and buttons.
It is said that the facelift version of Carens will continue to have the same three engine options with their respective gearbox options. The current model is offered with a 1.5-liter petrol delivering 113 bhp, a 1.5-liter direct injection turbo-petrol that churns out 158 bhp, and a 1.5-liter diesel producing 114 bhp.
Meanwhile, for the transmission, the 1.5-liter petrol version is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the turbo-petrol can be had with the 6-speed iMT or the 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox. As for the diesel, it can be opted with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
