Audi Facelifts e-tron GTs, 912 Hp GT Performance Its Most Potent Yet

German carmaker Audi AG launched its facelifted e-tron GT lineup with major design and technical upgrades. Available in three variants - S e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT Performance - the update packs everything ranging from power and range to fast charging.

To start, the 'RS' pair can be differentiated from the S e-tron GT based on smoked Audi rings offered as standard. Other elements exclusive to the former include a dark carbon roof married to carbon camouflage inserts spread across the bumper, doors, ORVMs and diffuser.

There is a vertical red reflector positioned between the aero channels. The electric trio get 20-inch multi-spoke alloys, however, the RS EVs received two six-twin spoke wheel designs (finished in dark matte for GT Performance).

In a first, the Audi Virtual Cockpit is capable of displaying real-time charging power, operating condition of the high-voltage (HV) battery and temperature, pre-conditioning status and quick charging forecast. Besides the leather-free design package, orange stitching on the 14-way adjustable sports seats (standard on S e-tron GT) looks in sync. The ‘Performance’ models house 18-way adjustable seats finished in Bedford Green.

As a tribute to the 1994 RS 2 Avant’s analogue dials, Audi RS e-tron GT Performance buyers can choose a white power display and speedometer, via the multi-media interface (MMI). The optional panoramic sunroof is laced with polymer-dispersed liquid crystal technology, turning transparent to opaque via a button.

Audi e-tron GT: Powertrain

While power and torque outputs have significantly gone up, Audi has managed to inversely decrease the rear axle motor’s weight by 10 kg using a lighter rotor-stator combination and optimised cooling system. Additionally, the 105 kWh battery’s weight is down by 9 kg to 625 kg.

A new standard boost function allows the RS e-tron GT2 and the RS e-tron GT performance3 to provide a noticeable 70 kW increase in power while driving. The driver can activate the boost function with the left control satellite on the steering wheel. The boost activates for ten seconds, as indicated by a countdown in the cockpit. Regenerative braking has increased to 400 kW (290 kW earlier).

Power output (in the range’s ascending order) stands at 669 hp, 844 hp and 912 hp, respectively. In the RS GT cars, a ten-second 70 kW boost can be activated from the steering wheel. The range-starting S e-tron GT has a 0-100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds, while racing-oriented RS e-tron GTs clock the same in 2.8 and 2.5 seconds, also making RS e-tron GT Performance the most powerful Audi production car.

While India launch is reportedly next year, Audi sells the outgoing e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT at Rs. 1.72 crore and Rs. 1.95 crore (ex-showroom), respectively. Rivals include the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS.
