BMW India has announced that it will be launching the new 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance edition on September 7. The new special edition 2 Series will be sold in limited numbers and will be available with a petrol powertrain only.
The M Performance edition only adds cosmetic upgrades over the standard BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Offered in a single colour, Black Sapphire with contrasting silver accents on the grille, bumper and wing mirrors, the new BMW 2 Series will feature an M Performance grille, gear selector lever and a few other M-specific parts.
Moving inside, the 2023 BMW 220i M Performance edition gets a black and beige dual-tone interior. In terms of features, it will likely be similar to the regular 2 Series Gran Coupe. Key highlights include dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, head-up display, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, and more.
BMW will offer the 2 Series M Performance edition with the same powertrain as the 220i. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor pumps out 179 bhp with 280 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
BMW will launch the new BMW 220i M Performance edition on 7 September 2023 and also unveil its prices. Expect it to be priced slightly over the M Sport Pro trim, which is priced at Rs 45.50 lakh (ex-showroom). BMW has already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh.
In India, the 2 Series Gran Coupe has only one competitor, the Mercedes A-Class limousine which is priced at Rs 45.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
