Mercedes S-Class sedan slated for an update next year was spied on test with heavy camouflaging. The refresh will debut five years after W223’s launch in 2020, running behind the automaker’s traditional four-year update cycle. Notably, this comes amid Mercedes’ recent decision to retreat from its 2030 all-electric goal.
Looking at the spy shots, it will get a new set of LEDs (temporary ones in photos) on either side and a low-extending grille, implying a reworked bumper with a smaller central air intake. The rear bits including reflectors and exhaust tips are tweaked as well. While spy photos didn’t reveal what has changed inside, reports previously suggested a major interior overhaul with the addition of Benz’s Hyperscreen display unit and a front-passenger focused screen, currently in vogue.
The current S-Class comes in two powertrains, including a mild-hybrid turbo petrol mill capable of making 362 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. There’s also the S350d on offer featuring Mercedes’ most powerful diesel engine (282 bhp/ 600 Nm) in history. Ex-showroom prices start at Rs. 2.25 crore.
