Car manufacturers have released their sales numbers for the month of January 2025. While Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Toyota and Kia have reported positive sales growth, Hyundai and Tata Motors registered a negative sales growth.

As usual, Maruti Suzuki remains at the top position in the list of top car manufacturers in India in January 2025. The company has managed to register a total sales of over 2.12 lakh in January as against 199,364 units in the same month last year.
In the domestic passenger vehicle segment, the company has registered a total sales of 173,599 units while the total domestic sales (PV + LCV) stands at 177,688 units. MSIL's sales to other OEM was 7,463 units, while the export sales were 27,100 units in January 2025.

The Korean brand has reported a total sales including Domestic and Exports of 65,603 units in the month of January 2025. In the domestic market, Hyundai dispatched 54,003 vehicles to dealerships in January 2025 as against 57,115 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY decline of 5.45%. Hyundai's popular SUV, the Creta has reported its higher ever domestic monthly sales of 18,522 units in January.

The latest breed of Mahindra SUVs have been receiving an overwhelming response from car buyers. In the month of January 2025, Mahindra reported a total sales of 50,659 units as against 43068 units in the same month last year. The company has registered a YoY sales growth of 18 percent.

The homegrown passenger car maker, Tata Motors has reported a negative YoY sales growth of 11 percent in the month of January 2025. In fact, the brand's EV sales declined by 25%. In the domestic passenger vehicle category, the company sold a total of 48,316 units last month as against 54,033 units in the same month in January 2024. Tata dispatched 5,240 units of electric vehicles last month, which is a decline of 25% from 6,979 units in January 2024.

Riding on the back of new Innova Hycross and Hyryder, Toyota has registered an impressive year-on-year sales growth of 19% in January 2025. The company reported a total sales of 29,371 vehicles last month as against 24,609 units in January 2024.

Kia has registered an overall sales of 25,025 units in the domestic market in the first month of 2025. The company has registered a year-on-year sales growth of 5 per cent, as it sold 23,769 units in January 2024. The Sonet and Seltos account for 7,194 units and 6,470 units, respectively, in the brand's total sales last month. Kia dispatched 5,546 units in January 2025. The Carens and Carnival account for 5,522 units and 293 units, respectively.

Honda Cars India has registered a combined sales (Domestic + Export) of 12,304 units in the month of January 2025 as against 13,212 units in the same month last year. The company reported a YoY sales decline of 6.87%.
In the domestic market, the company reported a decline of 15.62% last month. The company dispatched 7,325 vehicles in January 2025 as against 8,681 units in the same month last year. The company exported 4,979 units last month.

JSW MG Motor India registered an impressive 256% YoY sales growth in January 2025. The company sold a total of 4,455 units last month with EV contributing 70% to the overall sales figures. The Windsor EV has been the top-seller for the brand, and has crossed the 10,000 sales milestone in December.
