FADA, Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, India has released the retail sales for the month of February 2025. It reveals that the Indian passenger vehicle retail sector reported a slowdown. A total of 3,03,398 vehicles were retailed last month, reporting a 10.34% decline compared to 3,38,390 passenger vehicles retailed in February 2024.
Most of the mass market car makers including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Hyundai recorded a negative year-on-year growth. On the other hand, luxury and premium brands reported an increase in retail sales. Let's talk about the top car makers retail sales in February 2025 -
- Maruti Suzuki is at number 1 position with 1,18,149 cars retailed in February 2025 as against 1,33,135 units in the same month last year, reporting a decline of 11.25 per cent.
- Mahindra grabs second position by beating the likes of Tata Motors and Hyundai. The company retailed a total of 39,889 utility vehicles last month as against 39,725 units in the same month last year, reporting a marginal increase of just 0.4 per cent.
- Tata Motors retailed 38,696 units in the month of February 2025 as against 45,710 units in the same month last year, reporting a year-on-year decline of 15.34 per cent.
- Hyundai slips to number 4 position with 38,156 units retailed last month as against 47,540 units in February 2024. The company reported a year-on-year sales decline of 19.74 per cent. It has a market share of 12.58 per cent.
- Toyota and Kia are at fifth and sixth position, respectively. Toyota reported a positive growth of 4.75 per cent with a total retail sales of 21,561 units as against 20,584 units in the same month last year. Kia saw a decline of 10.16 per cent with 18,794 units retailed in February 2025 as against 20,919 units in the same month last year.
- Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited retailed a total retail sales of 6,462 units in the month of February, witnessing a year-on-year increase of 8.33 percent.
- Honda witnessed a year-on-year sales decline of 23.79 per cent with 5,166 units retailed last month.
- MG and Renault retailed 4,551 and 2,523 units, respectively. MG reported a jump of 16.22 per cent, while Renault retail sales declined by 23.79 per cent.
- Nissan retailed 1,706 vehicles in February 2025, while Mercedes-Benz reported a total retail of 1,253 units.
- BMW saw a marginal 0.80 per cent year-on-year increase in retail sales in February 2025 with 1,138 units retailed. Force Motors retailed 787 units last month, while Jaguar Land Rover retailed 435 passenger cars in February 2025.
- Citroen and Jeep retailed 407 vehicles and 308 vehicles, respectively. On the other hand, Byd managed to retail 254 vehicles in February 2025. Volvo retailed a total 82 vehicles last month.
