Citroen India has unveiled its production-spec Basalt with two petrol engine choices. It comes with five exterior paint schemes and offers a range of tech features inside. However, several design elements have been toned down from the design sketches teased earlier by the brand. Let's find the differences.
From the outside, the production model looks almost the same as its concept version except for a few design differences.
The front fascia is similar to the C3 Aircross except for the grill inserts. It features the brand's logo in the centre, with a two-part grille and a faux silver skid plate on the lower bumper. The biggest highlight is the introduction of projector headlamps.
Besides, the Basalt gets smaller 16-inch diamond alloy wheels while the sketch images showcased big chunky wheels. The production model features a matte plastic body cladding instead of a gloss black finish, as shown in the sketches previously.
Moving on to the rear profile, it highlights a contoured tailgate, a chunky dual-tone bumper in a black & silver finish, and halogen tail lamps.
Dimension-wise, it is 20mm shorter than the C3 Aircross and has a wheelbase of 2651mm. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm.
The Basalt Coupe SUV is offered with 5 monotone colour options including Steel Grey, Polar White, Garnet Red, Platinum Grey, and Cosmo Blue. The red and white shades also get a contrasting black roof.
The interior of the Basalt has borrowed design elements from the C3 Aircross including the dashboard design layout and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen for the infotainment unit. Besides, the Coupe SUV comes with a 7.0-inch full digital instrument display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, adjustable under-thigh support for rear seats, and a boot space of 470 litres.
The Basalt Coupe SUV is powered by the two engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, delivers 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. Another engine choice includes a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic. The power output for both transmissions is rated at 108bhp/195Nm and 108bhp/210Nm, respectively.
