The Indian car market is currently embracing the trend of Dark Edition vehicles. Leading brands such as Tata Motors, MG Motor, and Mahindra have introduced special editions under various names like Dark, Black, Stealth, and Carbon. Following suit, Citroen is gearing up to launch a Dark Edition of its upcoming Basalt SUV-coupe.
Additionally, Tata Motors is set to make waves with the Dark Edition of the Curvv. Both coupe SUVs are expected to debut in April 2025, adding to the growing demand for sleek, blacked-out models.
Curious to know about the newness of these upcoming dark editions coupe SUVs? Here is an overview!
Tata introduced its first SUV coupe - the Curvv in August 2024. The model caught many eyes with its stylish design, smart tech features, and two powertrain choices (ICE and electric).
At the beginning of this month, Tata was found developing the new Dark Edition of Curvv which is expected to launch soon. Visually, it will feature all-black exterior design with blacked-out elements such as grille, alloy wheels, body cladding, dark edition badge, and darkened headlams. Even the interior will have all-black theme with black seat upholstery, and piano black highlights.
Mechanically, there will be no changes as these dark editions are just meant to look classy with all-black exterior and interior, while under the hood, the car will carry the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engines, paired with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT transmissions.
The French automaker, Citroen, is all set to introduce the fresh dark edition of the Basalt SUV coupe. Similar to Tata Curvv, Citroen Basalt standard model was launched in the country last year and now its Dark Edition is making its way to the market in April 2025.
From the design perspective, the Citroen Basalt Dark Edition will have all-blacked-out exterior design elements including grille, ORVMs, and alloy wheels. The interior will carry the same black theme with contrasting stitching. Some of the expected features will include a 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control, a rear view camera, and more.
Beneath the hood, Citroen Basalt Dark Edition will carry the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic tranmissions.
