New Car Buying Platform
Citroen Basalt is all set to make its debut in August 2024. The coupe SUV will be a premium offering from the brand's car lineup. Positioned above the C3 Aircross, it will come with a tech-loaded interior, making it a far better option than the C3 Aircross.
The French automaker has teased the new Basalt coupe SUV a couple of times, revealing its features. The Tata Currv rival will come with automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, auto-dimming IRVMs, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control.
Other noteworthy amenities will include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and more.
Safety-wise, the Coupe SUV is likely to have six airbags, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and ABS with EBD.
The upcoming Basalt Coupe SUV will use the same Common Modular Platform that underpins other Citroen cars, i.e., C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross.
Under the hood, the Basalt will be powered by the same engine as the C3 Aircross. The coupe SUV will take power from the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 108 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. This 3-cylinder unit could be mated with a 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Citroen Basalt is expected to be priced at Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will compete with Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos.
