Citroen India has just given its C3 hatchback a price increase this month. Since it was launched in July 2022, this is the third price hike for the C3 in less than a year. The automaker is yet to state a reason for the new hike, but it is most probably due to the increased production costs.

The French automaker has hiked prices for the C3’s Live and Feel trims by Rs 18,000 while there is no price increase for the Feel turbo variant. Prices for the hatchback now start from Rs 6.16 lakh going up to Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
The C3 continues to be offered with two petrol powertrain options, both 1.2-litre. First is the naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 81 bhp of power output with 115 Nm of peak torque. While the other is a turbo-petrol unit that churns out 108 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual is currently the only transmission choice, but Citroen is planning to introduce an automatic option by the end of 2023.
In India, the C3 rivals the likes of the Renault Kiger, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, and the Maruti Ignis. With the updated prices, the C3’s starting price is more expensive than all its rivals except for the Kiger.
The automaker is also developing a new mid-size SUV for the Indian market, slated for a launch during the 2023 festive period. Likely to be named the C3 Aircross, it will feature a design inspired by both the C3 and C5 Aircross. The SUV will be offered in both 5 and 7-seat layout configuration.
Upon launch, the C3 Aircross will rival the likes of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and the MG Hector.
Renault opens its largest global design centre in Chennai, marking a key step in expanding its presence in both Indian and international markets.
