Exciting Kia Launches Ahead: Carens Facelift, Electric MPV, Next-Gen Seltos

The Korean automaker, Kia has recently launched the Syros sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market. Marketed as a lifestyle premium compact SUV, the new Kia Syros has received a positive response from buyers as it records over 20000 bookings in less than 2 months. In order to further increase sales, Kia is now planning to add more cars to its line-up.

In the next 12 months, Kia will introduce a new locally developed electric car, Carens facelift and an all-new electric RV (Recreational Vehicle). Let's talk about these models in detail -

Kia Carens Facelift

The Korean automaker will give a mid-life update to its popular MPV, the Carens. In fact, the MPV has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It is reported that the Carens facelift will be sold alongside the existing model and could carry a different nameplate. The MPV will come with design and interior changes along with several modern tech and features.

The spy images reveal that the new Kia Carens will come with a panoramic sunroof; however, the lower variants will have a single-pane sunroof. The MPV is likely to share the cabin layout with the new Syros with a dashboard dominated by Kia's "Trinity" panoramic display - a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12-inch LCD instrument cluster. There is a separate 5-inch display for climate control. The MPV could receive ventilated 2nd-row seats.

The MPV is also likely to come with ADAS LEVEL 2 and a 360-degree surround view camera. It is expected to get the same powertrain options including a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed MT, a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Kia Electric MPV

Kia will launch an all-new electric MPV in the second half of 2025. The new Recreational Vehicle will be a mass-market 3-row electric MPV and will be based on the Carens facelift. It will look like the Carens, but Kia will add several EV-specific design changes. The front design will be inspired by Kia's global EVs including the EV9.

The cabin layout will be similar to the Carens facelift. It will come with a new dashboard layout with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12-inch digital driver's display and a 5-inch display for climate control. The MPV will have a slightly different steering wheel, powered front seats, heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and second-row seats, dual-zone climate control and others.

The new MPV is likely to share the battery pack with the Creta EV. This electric RV should offer a range of over 400km on a single charge. The EV won’t have a direct rival in our market, but it could impact the sales of the MG Windsor EV.

Next-gen Kia Seltos

Kia has started testing the next-generation Seltos SUV which has been caught testing multiple times in India and Korea. The new Seltos will come with significant design changes and an upgraded interior along with several segment-leading features. Moreover, the new Kia Seltos will also come with a strong hybrid engine.

Not just a hybrid powertrain, the SUV is reportedly to come with an e-AWD system. It is likely to be powered by a 141bhp, 1.6L hybrid engine that powers the Hyundai Kona. It will continue to be offered with a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine.
