According to the latest reports, Honda Cars has started a series of production of the Elevate SUV in Tapukara, India. The all-new compact SUV is expected to go on sale during the first week of September with deliveries set to commence from the same month as well.
India is the first country where the Honda Elevate has commenced production. According to the automaker, the new product is being produced with more than 90% localisation and its India plant will be home to both domestic and export market production.
Honda will offer the Elevate in four trim levels, SV, V, VX, and ZX. In terms of features, the compact SUV will get LED projector headlights, auto climate control, an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, connected car tech, Honda Sensing ADAS suite, leatherette upholstery, an eight-speaker audio setup, and more.
Powering the Elevate is a 1.5-litre petrol unit that makes 121 bhp and 145 Nm of peak torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic transmission. Honda claims a fuel economy figure of 15.31 kmpl for the manual variants and 16.92 kmpl for the automatic models.
Unlike previous reports, the compact SUV will not get a strong-hybrid motor option. However, a pure electric version of the Elevate may be offered in the future.
Expect prices for the Elevate to start from around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), with the flagship trim level to cost around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, and the Škoda Kushaq.
