Japanese auto giant, Honda cars has just revealed the second-generation WR-V SUV in Indonesia. Expected to go on sale in the international market before the end of the year, the new model gets a unique design that sets it apart as an SUV in the market.
The new Honda WR-V is based on the company’s Concept RS SUV showcased at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2021. The new compact SUV features an update design that is similar to other Honda SUVs like the CR-V and HR-V. Despite growing in size, the new model will be underpinned by the same platform as the current generation Amaze and the last generation City sold in India.
In terms of exterior design, the upcoming car gets sleek wraparound LED headlights with a familiary Honda grill and a muscular bumper. From the side, the second-generation WR-V is more of a Coupe-SUV with its tapering roofline, aggressively raked front and rear windshield, prominent C-pillar and an angular tailgate. A strong shoulder line runs the length of the car while the lower half is covered in black body cladding. You also get option for 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels on the new WR-V.
For the ones that like to add a personalisation touch touch their WR-V, Honda is offering two styling packages. The first is the WR-V E pack which features a simpler design along with the 16-inch alloy wheels while the WR-V RS pack is an aggressive, sportier version offering larger 17-inch alloy wheels, a new grille, red highlight accents and an all-black interior among others.
Honda has filled the WR-V to the brim with safety features. The SUV now gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, and Honda Sensing safety bundle that comes with lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and more.
Powering the new WR-V will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine that churns out max figures are 121 bhp and 145 Nm. This system is expected to come mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox option. Currently this set-up is doing work on the 5th generation Honda City in the country.
