India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Hyundai Motor India has filed a new trademark for Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo. This suggests that the automaker will now be offering a dual-cylinder CNG setup just like Tata Motors's CNG cars.
The biggest drawback of a single CNG tank is that it takes up most of the space in the boot, making it difficult to store luggage. However, with the twin CNG cylinder setup, one can get ample space for the luggage.
Earlier, Tata Motors adopted this twin-cylinder tech, which has two smaller cylinders positioned under the boot floor. This provides more space for the luggage in the boot. Now, Hyundai is also adopting a similar approach by using Hy-CNG Duo technology. This technology will be applied to affordable Hyundai CNG cars such as the Exter, Grand i10 NIOS, and Aura. As of now, these vehicles come with factory-fitted single-cylinder CNG options.
While the Hy-CNG single-cylinder kits will be applied for the lower-end cars, the premium vehicles are likely to have a Hy-CNG Duo dual-cylinder setup.
