The Hyundai Creta, the top-selling SUV from the South Korean automaker, is all set to go electric in the country. The company has already released official images, specifications, and key features of the electric SUV ahead of its market launch. The Hyundai Creta Electric's prices are scheduled to be announced on 17th January at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show.
Featuring EV-specific kit and an e-powertrain, this midsize electric SUV is estimated to be priced around Rs 20 lakh for the base variant and up to Rs 30 lakh for the top-end trim. The ICE-powered Creta is currently available in the price range of Rs 11 lakh – Rs 20.30 lakh (all ex-showroom).
The Creta Electric will be offered with two battery packs – 42kWh and 51.4kWh – paired with front-axle-mounted 135bhp and 171bhp electric motors, respectively. The MIDC range of the EV stands at 390km (42kWh) and 473km (51.4kWh). Hyundai claims that the Long-Range version with the 51.4kWh battery accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds.
When it comes to charging, the Hyundai Creta Electric supports both 11kW AC and DC fast chargers. Its batteries can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in 4 hours via the regular 11kW AC charger and from 10 to 80 percent in 58 minutes via the DC fast charger. Customers will be able to access multiple remote charging functions, including scheduled charging and charging start/stop. Interestingly, Hyundai is also offering an in-car payment facility, allowing customers to pay for EV charging directly from the vehicle’s infotainment display.
Furthermore, the Creta Electric features i-Pedal technology, enabling the driver to accelerate, decelerate, and completely stop using only the accelerator pedal. The EV also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, along with features such as a digital key, a dual-screen setup for the 10.25-inch HD infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system, dual-zone climate control, a shift-by-wire system, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) linked regenerative braking system, Hyundai BlueLink connectivity, 268 embedded voice commands, and many more features.
The Hyundai Creta Electric will be directly positioned against the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. Maruti Suzuki’s and Mahindra’s upcoming e-Vitara and XEV 9e will also challenge the Creta EV, respectively. Honda Cars India has also planned an electric midsize SUV based on the Elevate, which is slated to hit the roads in 2026.
