The upcoming 2025 Bharat Mobility Show is set to be a significant event, with several new products across segments - including multiple EVs - scheduled to debut. One of the highlights will be the Hyundai Creta EV, which will compete with the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV and Maruti e-Vitara. The South Korean automaker will announce the prices of the Creta EV on the very first day of the Auto Expo—17th January 2025. The SUV will also be on public display at the event.
The design and styling of the Creta EV will differ from its ICE counterpart. Most of the EV-specific changes will be made to the front fascia, which will feature a new closed-off grille and a revised bumper. The side profile will remain largely similar to the regular Creta, except for a new set of alloy wheels. Additionally, EV badges will be present at the rear end for distinction.
The interior layout is likely to remain unchanged; however, the electric version will be identified by its distinctive three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the new Kona EV. For comparison, the regular Creta features a flat-bottom steering wheel.
The center panel with HVAC controls will be sourced from the Alcazar facelift, which was launched a few months ago. The revised center console will feature buttons for auto hold, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and cooled seats. Additionally, there will be a drive selector controller located near the steering column.
Similar to the regular Creta, the Hyundai Creta EV will feature a twin-screen setup—one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument cluster. The infotainment system is expected to receive a software update along with some new features.
Powertrain setup of the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to comprise of a 45kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor producing 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. Compared to its rivals, the Creta EV will have a smaller battery pack.
The exact specifications and range figures will be revealed next month during its public debut at the Bharat Mobility Show. However, media reports suggest that the EV might deliver a range of over 350km on a single charge.
Compared to its ICE counterpart, the Creta EV will undoubtedly be priced at a premium. The entry-level variant is estimated to cost around Rs 19 lakh, while the top-end trim might be priced above Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
