New Car Buying Platform
Based on Hyundai’s Casper crossover, the Inster EV broke cover globally at 2024 Busan International Mobility Expo. While Inster resembles the former, its platform has been lengthened by the Korean car manufacturer. In the domestic market, it is expected to rival MG Comet and Tata Punch.
With Inster, Hyundai has added 230 millimetres to the Casper-derived 3.5-metre-long architecture, making it fall slightly short of the Citroen eC3 (3.9 metres). Out of this, 180 millimetres goes to the wheelbase, translating into extra cabin room.
Its LED external illumination bits, some reminiscent of Tetris blocks, fall in line with the Korean car brand’s recent design language. Depending on specification, either 15-inch steel with wheel covers, 15-inch alloy wheels or bigger 17-inchers are offered.
For an A-segment sub-compact EV, the Inster feels loaded with unique bits. The pixel-theme is repeated inside, with graphics on steering wheel and upper door trim garnishes. A 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless charging dock are housed in the center console. Notable are the silding-reclining rear seats for added leg room.
Overseas, the Inster is available with two 42 kWh (96 hp) and 49 kWh (113 hp) battery packs delivering 300 km and 350 km, respectively. Hyundai offers an 11 kW charger as standard with the car. Cell chemistry for the above mentioned remains to be nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM).
