According to a recent media report, Kia Carens is likely to reintroduce the manual gearbox option for its diesel engine variant. Before this, the vehicle only offered an iMT automatic transmission, but it is now transitioning to prioritise manual gearbox as well. Prices for the diesel-powered manual variants for Carens have also been leaked.
Get more insights on its new trims and ex-showroom prices:
The Carens is expected to get 6 new diesel trims. These will include Premium, Premium (O), Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. While all variants should come standard with a 7-seater configuration, the Luxury Plus trim is likely to be offered with the option of a 6-seater layout.
In addition, the South Korean automaker plans to discontinue the iMT or clutchless manual variants of the Carens diesel with this update. Probably, they have made this decision due to the higher demand for manual and automatic transmission options compared to iMT versions.
Here are the expected variant-wise prices of the Kia Carens Diesel:
Diesel Variants (New) - Ex-showroom Prices (Manual)
Premium Rs. 12.67 lakh
Premium (O) Rs. 12.90 lakh
Prestige Rs. 14 lakh
Prestige Plus Rs. 15.47 lakh
Luxury Rs. 17.15 lakh
Luxury Plus Rs. 18.15 lakh
In terms of mechanicals, the Carens will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It will come paired with a 6-speed manual and automatic torque converter gearbox. As for the power, this engine will generate 113 bhp of maximum power with 250 Nm of peak torque.
Furthermore, the MPV is available with two petrol powertrains, one naturally aspirated and the other turbocharged.
