According to the latest reports, Kia cars has started working on a major styling update for the EV6. The premium EV, which made its global debut in 2021, already features a futuristic design. However, it looks like Kia wants to update it to bring the EV6’s styling in line with the new EV models like the EV9 and EV5. We take a closer look.
A Kia EV6 test mule was recently spotted in South Korea. While it is covered in heavy camouflage, some of the changes are still noticeable. The updated EV6 features a flatter, squared front end, similar to the EV9. It will likely get a full-width LED light bar while the LED headlights will be vertically oriented instead of the horizontal units on the current model. In profile, the updated EV6 retains the coupe-like silhouette of the outgoing model, but will likely get a new alloy wheel design. At the rear, expect minor changes like a reprofiled bumper.
Moving inside, the updated Kia EV6 could get some new features. However, no details have surfaced yet.
Kia currently offers the 2023 EV6 in two variants, both using a 77.4 kWh battery pack. The single-motor rear-wheel drive GT Line variant makes 229 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the dual-motor all-wheel drive GT Line AWD model pumps out 325 bhp with 605 Nm of max torque. Since the EV6 is barely 2 years old, expect the updated model to be offered with no changes to the powertrain options.
Reports suggest that Kia will unveil the facelifted EV6 sometime around the first or second quarter of 2024. Expect the premium EV to go on sale globally by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
