Kia Motors just introduced the new facelifted Seltos in India last week. The compact SUV now gets refreshed exterior, interior and new powertrain options. Now, the automaker has revealed the fuel efficiency numbers of the new SUV. Here is everything you need to know.
The 2023 Kia Seltos is offered with three powertrain options, two petrol and one diesel. The 1.5-litre N/A petrol makes 115 bhp with 114 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Kia claims the petrol motor has a fuel economy of 17 kmpl with manual and 17.7 km when paired with the CVT automatic gearbox.
Kia’s 1.5-litre turbodiesel option in the Seltos pumps out 115 bhp with 250 Nm of max torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The diesel has a claimed fuel efficiency of 20.7 kmpl with the iMT or 19.1 kmpl in the automatic variants.
Meanwhile, the new range-topping 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor churns out 160 bhp with 253 Nm of peak torque. It can be paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. Claimed fuel efficiency of this engine option is 17.7 kmpl.
Compared to the competition, the new Seltos offers good fuel economy numbers for all its powertrain options. The new Honda Elevate, its latest rival, has a claimed economy of 15.31 kmpl for the petrol-manual variants and 16.92 kmpl for the petrol-CVT models.
The Hyundai Creta is the only other compact SUV offered with a diesel engine. It has a claimed fuel economy of 21.4 kmpl for the manual and 18.5 kmpl for the automatic variants.
Meanwhile, the Seltos turbo-petrol economy figures are quite similar to its rivals. The Škoda Kushaq claims 17.95 kmpl for the manual and 17.70 kmpl for the automatic variants. Its sibling the VW Taigun has claimed economy figures of 18.47 kmpl and 17.88 kmpl for the manual and automatic models. Both compact SUVs share a 1.5-litre TSI motor.
However, Maruti’s Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder still remain the most fuel-efficient offerings in the segment. Their petrol-hybrid powertrain has a claimed fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl
Prices for the Kia Seltos facelift start from Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the HTE petrol variant, going upto Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top Seltos X-Line Turbo DCT model.
