New Car Buying Platform
Korean carmaker Kia’s upcoming sub-compact SUV (under 4 metres) was spied testing on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. It is likely to be called ‘Syros’ instead of earlier thought ‘Clavis’ according to a patent filed by the brand, Autocar stated. The vehicle will be slotted between Sonet and Seltos SUVs. Electric iteration to be launched after the petrol one with the former launching by 2024 end and the latter next year.
It gets a dual-tone flat-bottom steering wheel with steering-mounted controls, inspired by the K4 sedan sold overseas. Other features that strike the eye include automatic wipers, an off-centre Kia emblem and a scroll wheel to adjust media volume.
Cabin elements spotted earlier include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, climate control, drive modes, leatherette upholstery and a Bose audio system. Media reports also suggest it will boast Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Reports suggest Kia will share the Sonet’s ICE engine family with the Syros - 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (81bhp/115 Nm), 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol (118/172 Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel (114/250 Nm). It is probable that the upcoming vehicle will have the same five transmissions as the Sonet. However, the battery and motor specifications of the Syros EV are still unknown.
